UTICA, NY — Verizon Wireless will present Catholic Charities of Herkimer County with a $1,250 grant from the company's HopeLine® Foundation. The grant will be used to fund community outreach and educational programs. This grant is one of 13 grants totaling $35,000 being awarded across Upstate New York to help organizations involved in domestic violence prevention and education introduce new programs, expand existing ones or add facilities to better serve clients.

"I am so appreciative to receive the Verizon Wireless HopeLine grant. Raising awareness about dating violence is instrumental in helping teens and young adults recognize the warning signs of a potentially abusive relationship," said program director, Jacqueline Ward. "The grant will help us provide more educational programming to individuals in Herkimer County regarding this very important issue."

John O'Malley, public relations manager for Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region, will present the grant to Ward on Monday, November 21 at 3:30 PM. The check presentation will take place at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store located at 394 East State Street in Herkimer.

Verizon Wireless, a recognized corporate leader in the fight against domestic violence, works to combat domestic violence and raise awareness of the issue through the company's HopeLine program.
