Verizon Wireless Opens New Communications Store In Midtown Manhattan, New York

ORANGEBURG, NY — In response to the growing demand for the company's voice and data products and services, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has opened its newest Communications Store at 981 Third Avenue and 59th Street in Manhattan.

The store is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store phone number is 212-759-0201.

"Customers choose Verizon Wireless because they want service on the nation's most reliable wireless network," said Store Manager Daniel Kwan. "Our new Third Avenue store is staffed by knowledgeable wireless professionals who offer consumers a broad range of equipment and service plans including enhanced data services they can't get anywhere else."

Demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the third quarter of 2005 as the company added 1.9 million net new customers. Verizon Wireless now serves 49.3 million customers nationwide.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $25 billion in the past five years to maintain and expand its nationwide network, including $400 million in enhancements to its New York network in 2005. The company continues to invest in its network to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company's voice and data services, like two-way text messaging, picture messaging, BroadbandAccess and the new V CAST multimedia service which allows customers to view more than 300 crystal clear video clips daily from the hottest names in entertainment, news, sports and more in the palms of their hands.

In addition, Verizon Wireless this week began selling music on demand, enabling customers to download full songs over the air into their mobile handsets and to their Microsoft® Windows® XP-based PCs.

The Third Avenue store also participates in the company's HopeLine® phone recycling program. HopeLine collects no-longer-used wireless phones to be refurbished, recycled or sold; proceeds are donated to domestic violence advocacy groups or used to purchase wireless phones with airtime for emergency use by victims. In addition to phones, service and voice mailboxes for victims, HopeLine includes funding for non-profit domestic violence organizations; community and corporate awareness initiatives; and a bilingual "Invest in Yourself" program designed to help prepare survivors to re-enter the workforce.
