BEDMINSTER, NJ and LOS ANGELES — Last night Verizon Wireless not only created a historic live performance to kick off music's biggest week with the reunion of the Fugees, but the company also marked an industry first by leveraging technology to distribute tickets on mobile phones and offering exclusive concert footage and audio recordings to V CAST customers. Verizon Wireless also broadcast the concert last night on the V CAST Music Web site, www.verizonwireless.com/music. By bringing the Fugees — Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel — back on-stage for a ticketed free open-air concert on the corner of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles where they world-premiered new songs from their unreleased album, Verizon Wireless demonstrated the power of its network and the benefits of V CAST by offering unprecedented access to this important event to customers through their mobile phones.

Concert Tickets on Verizon Wireless Phones
The ability to hear about and attend events by using one's wireless phone takes music to a new level of mobility. While Verizon Wireless leveraged TXT Messaging to notify and invite interested fans to the show, the company is the first to offer wireless admission tickets. Customers that requested tickets were sent a PIX Message to their wireless phones that contained a unique barcode that was scanned at the show entrance. The company also offered concert tickets through other mobile methods and more traditional methods, such as Internet tickets that could be printed at home, area radio station contests and giveaways.

"Verizon Wireless has led the industry when it comes to services its award-winning network can provide; this event with the Fugees showcases the company's ability to offer a completely mobile music experience — from ticketing through the concert experience itself," said John Harrobin, vice president of marketing at Verizon Wireless. "This is the power of the Verizon Wireless network to create an engaging and rich experience for our customers. V CAST extends the wireless experience and moves entertainment to an entirely new level — one that you can enjoy at your leisure from wherever you are."

V CAST runs on Verizon Wireless' award-winning broadband network, already available to 150 million Americans coast to coast. V CAST allows customers to experience next-generation services, including downloading music and streaming video clips over the air onto their phones.

No Ticket, No Problem
Verizon Wireless V CAST customers can check out concert highlights from last night's show on V CAST-enabled phones. More than a half-hour of video showcasing the hottest parts of the show is available in the Entertainment category — concert video from this exclusive performance will be available free for a limited time; customers need a V CAST-enabled phone and $15 monthly subscription to access the video. For those who could not make it to the concert in Los Angeles, Verizon Wireless also Web cast the show on the V CAST Music Web site last night.

In the coming weeks, Verizon Wireless customers will be able to access and purchase recordings from the Fugees' triumphant reunion performance on their V CAST Music-enabled phones. Within V CAST from Verizon Wireless, recordings are located in the V CAST Music section; songs cost $0.99 if purchased from the PC or $1.99 if purchased and downloaded over the air onto a V CAST Music-enabled phone. For more information, visit www.verizonwireless.com/music.

To get V CAST from Verizon Wireless, customers can equip their V CAST-enabled phones with a V CAST VPak subscription for $15.00 monthly access added to their Verizon Wireless calling plan. Unlimited basic video clips are included, but application download fees apply for 3D games and premium video. There are no airtime charges to download, stream or watch V CAST content.
