BEDMINSTER, NJ and BOSTON — Physicians nationwide can now use MedAptus solutions on the expansive Verizon Wireless network to review and update patient data. MedAptus, point-of-care technologies provider to healthcare organizations, and Verizon Wireless, owner of the nation's most reliable wireless network, have teamed up to make MedAptus' application suite available to physicians regardless of where they treat patients.

"Physicians commonly practice medicine from a variety of locations, yet the need to quickly retrieve information to provide proper diagnosis and perform a wide range of procedures remains a constant," said Cindy Patterson, vice president of enterprise data for Verizon Wireless. "This agreement gives MedAptus physician-users the ability to access patient data using the 400 to 700 kbps speeds of the Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess service on the EV-DO network. As a result, the physician's ability to consistently deliver high quality treatment will be greatly enhanced."

The MedAptus suite of applications allows physicians to enter professional charges, manage daily schedules, retrieve patient demographics and history, dictate notes, access medical reference material, transmit electronic prescriptions and review test results. MedAptus' flagship Electronic Charge Capture, offering complementary applications which are easy-to-use, deliver demonstrable returns and improve physician decision-making.

"Healthcare delivery continues to become increasingly mobile and data intensive in nature. Rapid, easy access to patient information and clinical tools, regardless of time or place, is crucial to providing quality care. This new relationship with Verizon Wireless affords our customers the option of deploying MedAptus' Charge Capture and other point-of-care solutions using wireless broadband service for both data and application access, from coast to coast," said David Delaney, MD, vice president of business development for MedAptus. "By leveraging Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess service, healthcare organizations are able to securely extend their clinical systems to support patient care whenever and wherever it is delivered."
