Verizon Wireless Celebrates Grand Opening of New Dickson, Tennessee Store

DICKSON, TN — Verizon Wireless, the nation's most reliable network, kicks off the official opening of its newest retail store in Dickson February 19 - February 25, 2006 with weeklong savings and special promotions. In honor of the new store and the company's commitment to assisting domestic violence victims, Verizon Wireless will donate $1,000 to Women are Safe, a local not-for-profit organization that offers temporary shelter, crisis counseling and other support services to victims of family violence.

"This generous grant from Verizon Wireless will enable us to help more women who seek safety from abusive situations. Few people realize how many women are affected by this epidemic every day," said Mary Fox, Executive Director for Women are Safe. "We appreciate a national corporation being so willing to address this important issue on a local level."

"Verizon Wireless has devoted our community service efforts to domestic violence because of the far-reaching impact of this problem. We understand that one out of three women is living in an abusive situation and we strive to stop the violence," said Jerry Fountain, President of the Carolinas/Tennessee Region of Verizon Wireless. "Through Verizon Wireless' HopeLine® phone donation and recycling program, we provide support to victims of domestic violence and agencies like Women are Safe that seek to help them."

Verizon Wireless will present the donation to Women are Safe during a ribbon-cutting celebration at the store on Wednesday, February 22, at 4 p.m. with local dignitaries. WKDF-FM will also be on site from 4-6 p.m. for a live radio broadcast with prize giveaways and special customer offers. During the week, store visitors are invited to register to win an RTW: LGVX9800 V Cast, MP3 player, camera phone (retail value $419.99).

The new Verizon Wireless retail store in Dickson, located at 100 Lowe's Drive, will offer customers 25% off select accessories and will waive activation fees for new customers during the week-long grand opening celebration. Visitors are invited to take advantage of these special promotions and enjoy light refreshments available at the store throughout the week.
