LAUREL, MD — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents in Prince George's County, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's best, most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with two new cell sites. One site provides increased coverage in Upper Marlboro near Brown Station Rd., Westphalia Rd. and Old Marlboro Pike, while the other increases call handling capacity in College Park near I-495, Route 201, Route 193 and Route 1.

These network expansions are part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year (more than $1 billion every 90 days) to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. In 2005, Verizon Wireless completed more than $300 million in enhancements to its D.C., Maryland and Virginia network. The company has invested $30 billion — about $5 billion every year since Verizon Wireless was formed six years ago — to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new capabilities.

Verizon Wireless is committed to continuing to offer customers the most reliable service available in the nation, including wireless data services such as Picture Messaging, TXT Messaging, and the company's exclusive V CAST service. V CAST brings downloadable music and video clips and other multimedia services to wireless phones over Verizon Wireless' high speed BroadbandAccess wireless network, which offers customers the fastest, widely available broadband wireless network in the nation, operating at average speeds between 400 kbps - 700 kbps.

Editor's Note: The company's 'most reliable network' reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "Can You Hear Me Now" national advertising campaign. If you are interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your local Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact John Johnson at 240-568-1429.
