SIOUX FALLS, SD — As South Dakota's $800 million tourism season kicks into high gear this year, visitors to the state now can more easily navigate their trips with a new tool from Verizon Wireless that simplifies traveling.

With VZ Navigator SM , a newly introduced application available on certain Verizon Wireless handsets, travelers can access Location Based Services (LBS), including mapping, audible turn-by-turn navigation and the ability to find more than 14 million points of interest throughout the nation.

"Now, with just one wireless tool, vacationers can map their routes and locate almost everything they need while traveling throughout South Dakota," said Jennifer Hall, data sales consultant for Verizon Wireless in South Dakota.

VZ Navigator is available on the LG VX9800 and Motorola's V325 and RAZR handsets. Here's how vacationers can use the service:

Prior to traveling, vacationers simply key in their South Dakota destination from any location in the United States to receive a travel route that will be displayed on their handset screen. While traveling, drivers also can use VZ Navigator'saudible turn-by-turn directions. The automated voices will direct drivers to their destination using either the fastest, shortest or simplest route.

Travelers searching for a hotel along the way can key in their destination to receive a display of the closest hotels. In the same way, tourists can find restaurants, emergency locations and more, as well as get pedestrian directions.

VZ Navigator is equipped to help guide tourists not only within South Dakota but across the United States. "This application can take travelers anywhere they want to go, without the hassle of mapping directions and travel routes on paper," Hall said.

Verizon Wireless' VZ Navigator is a Get It Now® application and can be downloaded from the Get it Now® virtual store in the getGOING shopping aisle. Customers can purchase VZ Navigatorfor $9.99 for unlimited monthly access or $2.99 for 24-hour use. Airtime use is required when downloading directions.
