Verizon Wireless Adding Another 75 Jobs at Henrietta Call Center in Rochester, New York

As Customer Base Grows, So Does Need for Skilled Customer Service Representatives

ROCHESTER, NY — Verizon Wireless announced today it is adding another 75 full-time positions at its Henrietta call center. The new hires will be part of the center's August training class, joining 80 reps hired in the call center in the first quarter of this year, and 300 in 2005. The Henrietta call center now employs nearly 900 representatives — up from approximately 100 in early 2001. The jobs are being added to meet the growing demand for the company's wireless voice and data products and services. The company is also seeking bilingual candidates to address the needs of Spanish-speaking customers.

Verizon Wireless cites strong customer growth and the availability of a skilled local talent pool as the main drivers of the call center's continuing expansion. The call center handles customer inquiries from across Upstate New York, as well as overflow calls from other regions. Last year, employees answered more than 1.8 million calls in the center. Verizon Wireless currently employs more than 1,100 people in the Rochester area at its regional headquarters and call center in Henrietta, and in its 19 local communications store locations.
