BASKING RIDGE, NJ — With record prices at the pump and the promise of more traffic on the roads as summer vacations come to an end, Verizon Wireless is highlighting several mobile services that help workers commute more efficiently during their morning and evening drives. Services such as VZ NavigatorSM, FuelFinder and TXT Traffic Alerts can help customers locate an unfamiliar destination, a nearby gas station with the best prices and avoid traffic congestion while on the road. For workers with flexible work arrangements who can avoid traffic and expensive fuel costs altogether by telecommuting, BroadbandAccess from Verizon Wireless securely connects to the Internet at broadband speeds, providing a convenient way to conduct business from the comfort of their homes, in coffee shops, at airports, and allows true mobility, rather than having to find a single "spot."

With more traffic on the roads and the rising cost of fuel, commuters want services that can help them get the most out of a tank of gas. Services like VZ Navigator, FuelFinder and TXT Traffic Alerts from Verizon Wireless can help our customers make their commutes more efficient.

VZ Navigator
VZ Navigator uses Location Based Services (LBS), including mapping, audible turn-by-turn navigation and the ability to find over 14 million points of interest (like ATMs, restaurants and gas stations) so customers can find their way to meetings at new destinations quickly and easily. With VZ Navigator, customers see a map of their current location, with directions leading to a selected address, and hear turn-by-turn navigation with audible voice directions to any location in the U.S. VZ Navigator functions as an advanced navigation system on a wireless phone, but only costs a fraction of the price of vehicle-installed GPS devices and systems — perfect for customers who are constantly on-the-go.

VZ Navigator is available in the getGOING shopping aisle of the Get It Now® virtual store for $9.99 for unlimited monthly access or $2.99 for 24-hour use. Through September 19, customers can download a free 30-day trial of VZ Navigator on select Get It Now-enabled phones. Download charges for Get It Now applications vary and airtime charges apply when browsing, downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the Get It Now virtual store.

FuelFinder
Verizon Wireless customers can use their mobile phones to find the best price for gas — even before putting keys into the ignition. FuelFinder enables Verizon Wireless customers with Mobile Web 2.0SM-capable phones to search for the best deal on fuel by ZIP code, city or recent search, with regular updates on over 110,000 stations from coast to coast as often as every two hours. In addition, Verizon Wireless customers can view an interactive color map on their phones that plots out FuelFinder's results and provides turn-by-turn directions to any selected gas station.

FuelFinder is available on Mobile Web 2.0-capable phones for $1.99 monthly access. Mobile Web 2.0 is available for $5.00 monthly access, plus airtime and can be self-provisioned, eliminating the need for Verizon Wireless customers to call customer service or visit a Verizon Wireless Communication Store to sign up for the service. Customers simply register for Mobile Web 2.0 on their Mobile Web-capable handset and gain access to information and content right from their wireless handsets.

TXT Traffic Alert Service
Commuters using the Verizon Wireless TXT Traffic Alert Service can choose their preferred routes and designate which times of the day they would like to receive traffic update alerts, while saving time, fuel costs and overall frustration while staying informed of changing traffic information.

Customers can register for TXT Traffic Alerts by visiting www.vtext.com, Verizon Wireless' TXT Messaging companion Web site, and selecting which traffic alerts they wish to receive. There is no charge to set up alerts, but standard TXT Messaging rates apply for TXT Traffic Alerts received.

BroadbandAccess and BroadbandAccess Connect
Verizon Wireless' nationally recognized BroadbandAccess service allows customers to connect wirelessly to the Internet, their corporate intranet and e-mail at broadband speeds while away from the office, making it a great option for commuters that want to avoid the road and work remotely. Available for use with a PC Card or with select wireless phones when used as a modem, BroadbandAccess is rapidly becoming the standard for wireless connectivity in the business world and offers another option for customers who view office mobility and speed as a competitive advantage for their business.

BroadbandAccess delivers average connection speeds of 400 to 700 kilobits per second, helping customers stay in touch with co-workers, customers and business partners and is available for use with several PC Cards.

BroadbandAccess Connect delivers the same speeds as Verizon Wireless' award-winning BroadbandAccess service, but uses a simple cable connection from a wireless phone to a laptop, providing a cost-effective solution for customers who do not want to purchase a separate PC card to access the Internet from their laptop.

Customers with any monthly Verizon Wireless voice plan can receive unlimited BroadbandAccess for Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access for an additional $59.99 monthly access. For non-voice customers, BroadbandAccess is available for $79.99 monthly access for unlimited use for Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access.

Customers with BroadbandAccess Connect-capable phones select from three BroadbandAccess Connect pricing options:

  • Customers with a select Verizon Wireless BlackBerry, PDA or smartphone and an unlimited data plan with qualifying voice plan can get unlimited BroadbandAccess Connect for $15.00 monthly access.
  • Customers with a select Verizon Wireless BlackBerry, PDA or smartphone can get BroadbandAccess Connect with an unlimited data plan for $30 monthly access.
  • Customers with select wireless phones from Verizon Wireless, such as The V and VX8100 from LG or the RAZR V3c and E815 from Motorola, and eligible voice plan can get unlimited BroadbandAccess Connect for $59.99 monthly access. To use the phone as a modem, customers must have a separately purchased Mobile Office Kit, which is available for $39.99.
