CRESTWOOD, IL — Verizon Wireless announced today it has opened its first Communications Store in Crestwood, bringing the latest products and services of the company that operates the nation's most reliable network closer to area consumers. The company has hired seven local residents to fill newly created retail positions at the store.

The 2,700-square-foot store, located at 135th and Cicero (13447 Cicero Avenue), includes separate sales and customer service areas to better serve consumers.

Local residents who have been hired to fill the store's new retail positions are:

  • Gil Moran of Cicero — store manager
  • John Bellamy of Chicago — retail sales representative
  • Clearance Booth of Markham — customer service representative
  • Diana Galvin of Chicago Heights — retail sales representative

  • Veronica Morales of Chicago — retail sales representative
  • Amira Sanchez of Oak Lawn — customer service representative

In addition, Verizon Wireless has promoted three current employees to work at the new Crestwood store. Alpesh Patel was named assistant store manager, while Kenya Sanders and Brian Quan were made retail sales representatives. These newly promoted employees previously worked in the Company's Aurora, Ill., Woodfield Mall (Schaumburg, Ill.) and Springfield, Ill., stores, respectively.

"This new store reflects our ongoing commitment to provide our customers with increased convenience, an accessible, knowledgeable sales staff and our latest wireless devices," said T.J. Fox, president—Illinois/Wisconsin Region, Verizon Wireless. "Demand for our wireless products and new, sophisticated services continues to grow as more consumers take advantage of our recent network expansion in this area."

As part of the store opening, Verizon Wireless is making a $1,000 donation to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia in Tinley Park. Established in 1979, the Crisis Center for South Suburbia is a non-profit community organization that provides emergency shelter and other essential services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence.

Verizon Wireless is also holding a special phone drive to collect no-longer-used wireless handsets and accessories for the company's award-winning HopeLine® program. For every handset collected at the Crestwood store from August 24 through the end of September, Verizon Wireless will contribute $1 to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia.

The Crestwood store is one of more than 100 company-owned Communications Stores and kiosks in Illinois and is open Monday though Friday from 9 a.m.—9 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m.—8 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m.—6 p.m. The store's phone number is 708-396-9822.
