LANSING, MI — Students, faculty, staff and visitors of Michigan State University (MSU) are enjoying clearer reception and fewer lost calls as a result of equipment upgrades on Verizon Wireless cell sites on and surrounding the campus.

Verizon Wireless increased network capacity at MSU by 22 percent. The network improvements mean more customers can use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive e-mail and TXT, Picture and Video Messages, and download games and ring tones.

"These upgrades mean more customers can keep in touch with friends and family during home football games, text friends between classes and share pictures instantly-all on the nation's most reliable wireless network," said Greg Haller, president—Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless.

The network improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase coverage and augment the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Michigan and across the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years-$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. The company has invested $728 million in the past six years in its Michigan network.
