ALPHARETTA, GA — In its ongoing effort to provide the best wireless service in Georgia, Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, continues to expand its Georgia network with four new cell towers in the Atlanta metro area. The new cell towers enable more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive TXT and Picture Messages, and download games and ring tones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls. To date in 2006, Verizon Wireless has added nine new cell towers in the metro-Atlanta area. The newest towers are announced as follows:

  • A new tower in Fulton County improves digital coverage along Cascade Road and the surrounding area between Lake Echo and Cascade/285.
  • A new tower in Marietta improves coverage on Hwy 360 and in the neighborhoods along Powder Springs Road, Bankstone Road and John Ward Road.
  • Another tower in Marietta improves coverage along Hwy 120 and Due West Road in Kennesaw and provides that area with Verizon Wireless' high-speed BroadbandAccess service.
  • The fourth new tower is located in Alpharetta and improves coverage along Hwy 9 and Hwy 371.

Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry. Verizon Wireless also continues to post the lowest customer churn rate — 1.13% in the second quarter of this year -- among national carriers.

"Our continuous investment reflects the growing demand in Georgia for Verizon Wireless services. We always strive to provide our customers with the reliable, high quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless, wherever they are in Georgia and beyond. A major reason our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable network," said Jim McGean, president—Georgia/Alabama Region, Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion - on average $5 billion every year - since the company was formed six years ago to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new capabilities. In Georgia and Alabama, Verizon Wireless invested more than $112 million to date in 2006 in network enhancements and expansion to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in this area.

The company's most reliable wireless network claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign. These engineers conduct more than 750,000 voice call attempts and 1.4 million data tests quarterly on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling more than 225,000 miles in specially equipped, company owned test vehicles.
