EVANSVILLE, IN — Residents and visitors of southern Indiana are enjoying clearer reception and fewer lost calls with Verizon Wireless as a result of a newly activated cell site in New Harmony and equipment upgrades on other cell sites in the greater Evansville area.

The network improvements mean more customers can use their wireless phones to make calls, send and receive e-mail and TXT, Picture and Video Messages, and download games and ring tones in the following areas:

  • In New Harmony
  • Along State Road 69 between Mt. Vernon and New Harmony
  • In Wadesville
  • Along State Road 66 between New Harmony and Wadesville
  • Along State Road 68 between New Harmony and Poseyville
  • In Princeton
  • In Fort Branch
  • Along U.S. Route 41 between Darmstadt and Princeton
  • Along State Road 64 between Princeton and Oakland City
  • In Poseyville and along Interstate 64 in Posey County
  • On the north side of Evansville, including the North Park shopping area, and north of Evansville along Stringtown Road and 1st Avenue
  • In Darmstadt
  • In Inglefield

The network improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase coverage and augment the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and across the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years-$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. The company has invested $618 million in the past six years in its Indiana network.
