LITTLE ROCK, AR — To provide the best wireless service for residents, visitors and the many commuters throughout Pulaski and Saline counties, Verizon Wireless has enhanced its digital network by constructing 15 new advanced digital cell sites.
The majority of the new towers built during the months of July, August and September are positioned to provide expanded coverage to Central Arkansas commuter traffic, with many of them located in the outlying areas of Little Rock where new residential developments are booming.
The new sites are part of the company's continuing growth and investment in Arkansas. Verizon Wireless has already invested almost $19 million in the state during the year to further expand and enhance its network.
This aggressive network investment in excess of $30 billion nationally during the past six years ensures that Verizon Wireless will continue to stay ahead of growing demand for wireless voice and data services like Picture Messaging and Internet access throughout the state.
"By expanding and enhancing our network, we are showing customers our dedication to deliver the best experience with the highest quality of service," said Lee Maschmann, executive director of network for Verizon Wireless. "Our investment in Arkansas allows us to meet the growing voice and data needs of businesses and consumers here on a daily basis."
Daily business commuters will find improved network coverage as they travel to and from Little Rock with the addition of three new towers located in the north and south areas of Benton, including enhanced coverage to the Saline County Airport. Extending the company's coverage footprint down Interstate 40, one tower has been added just west of Brinkley. Interstate 30 received a tower as well just east of Bauxite.
Residents on the north side of the river will find enhanced areas as well. One of the sites, located west of North Little Rock, was designed to improve coverage capacity near the Burns Park area along Interstate 40. A second tower, located just west of North Little Rock, will improve coverage to the Arkansas River and east to Highway 365. Indian Hills, a popular residential area of the city, received a tower as well which will provide both digital voice and data coverage and capacity in the northern portion of North Little Rock and the western sections of Sherwood.
Coverage surrounding the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville will also be enhanced due to two new towers one located near the intersection of West Main Street and Redmund Road and the other just east of the city near the intersection of Ray Road and Stevenson Street.
Central Arkansas shopping fanatics will be happy to find extended and improved coverage in several of their favorite retail areas. Three of the sites were designed to improve coverage for businesses and residences located in West Little Rock, including high-traffic shopping areas on Chenal Parkway, Bowman Road and Kanis Road. Two sites are located near the premiere shopping center, Pavilion In the Park.
Further down the road, a new site has also been activated near the Arkansas School for the Deaf with improved coverage stretching south to Interstate 630.
