HONOLULU, HI — Wireless users near the Kapolei Business District - including Kapolei Kai neighborhood, Kapolei Hale and Kapolei High School - are now experiencing increased coverage and capacity thanks to a new Verizon Wireless cell site.
"We lead in customer loyalty* for a very good reason - customers know they can count on our network reliability," said Mark Yamauchi, director of Hawaii sales for Verizon Wireless. "We demonstrated that reliability recently in the aftermath of the 6.7 earthquake when teams of our network technicians worked around the clock to ensure the vital communications network remained operational during the emergency. We prepare for emergencies all year long because we know the critical role of communications in public safety."
The company has invested more than $100 million in its Hawaii network during roughly the last five years to expand coverage, add new capabilities, stay ahead of the growth in demand, and enhance reliability features including backup battery power and generators.
The company has invested $30 billion in the last six years-$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.
The company's "most reliable network" claim is based on network studies performed by the real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspire Verizon Wireless' national advertising. These engineers conduct more than 750,000 voice call attempts and 1.4 million data tests quarterly on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling over 225,000 miles quarterly in specially equipped, company-owned test vehicles.
