ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Verizon Wireless and the University of New Mexico (UNM) Athletics Department are calling on you to help curb domestic violence. Fans attending the Lobos men's basketball home game on Friday, November 10 can donate their used wireless phones and accessories to the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® program.

Drop boxes will be located by the Verizon Wireless vehicle at the east entrance and at the west entrance to the Pit from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Verizon Wireless' HopeLine program collects wireless phones and accessories from any wireless service provider, and then refurbishes the phones or recycles them in an environmentally friendly way. Proceeds from the program are used to provide wireless phones and airtime, and financial grants to domestic violence and non-profit advocacy agencies.

"As a sponsor of UNM Athletics, we are proud to team up with the Lobos for the second consecutive year to extend a HopeLine to victims of domestic violence," said Tony Heyman, regional president for Verizon Wireless. "Together, we can help curb an epidemic that affects one in every three American women during their lifetime."

Wireless phones and equipment can be donated to the HopeLine program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store across the country.
