MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Building on its successful strategy to provide customers superior wireless services in the Palmetto State, Verizon Wireless announced today the launch of the company's Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network in Myrtle Beach, SC, enabling both its BroadbandAccess and V CAST services. Verizon Wireless' customers along the Grand Strand in Myrtle Beach, Surfside, Conway and Atlantic Beach now have access to the latest high-speed business and entertainment services on their wireless phones, laptop computers and other wireless devices.
"In October, we launched the EV-DO network in two of South Carolina's largest business centers, Greenville and Columbia, and now with the launch of BroadbandAccess and V CAST in the state's top tourist destination, more people living and traveling to South Carolina can enjoy the latest high-speed business and entertainment services," said Jerry Fountain, region president for Verizon Wireless.
Since 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested $445 million in South Carolina to build, maintain and expand its high-quality network, and the growth continues in 2006. Over the last six years Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion nationwide to ensure network reliability and expanded coverage and capacity.
