CHEYENNE, WY — Wireless users in Wyoming are now experiencing increased coverage thanks to a new cell site in downtown Laramie and an agreement that expands coverage in Cheyenne, Casper, Sheridan, Gillette and across the state. The Laramie site boosts coverage near Grand Avenue and 2nd Street. The statewide expansion allows Verizon Wireless customers to make more calls in more areas without incurring roaming fees.

"We continue to make a significant investment in our wireless network in Wyoming to stay ahead of the growth in demand for our products and services," said Jeff Mango, regional president of Verizon Wireless. "We are pleased to be able to expand our network coverage and increase the overall calling area for our customers in Wyoming."

Dial "*228" to be sure
To fully benefit from the network expansion, existing Verizon Wireless customers must dial "*228," press send, then select "Option 2" from the voice menu. This call will update the software in the handset to recognize the expanded coverage. There are no additional charges for the update.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $41 million in its wireless network in Wyoming over the past four years to stay ahead of the growth in demand for voice and data services.

The company invested $35 billion in the last seven years — $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed — to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.
