PITTSBURGH, PA — Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in Westmoreland County, increasing network coverage and capacity in and around Export, Delmont, Murrysville, Longbridge, Latrobe and Ligonier, and along major roadways in the area.

The new cell sites enable more Verizon Wireless customers to use their wireless phones to make calls; send and receive email and TXT, Picture and Video Messages; and download games and ring tones.

The network enhancements improve coverage along state Route 22 east from Murrysville to the town of Delmont, and along U.S. Route 30 southeast from Latrobe to Ligonier. In addition, coverage is increased in the towns of Export and Longbridge.

"Verizon Wireless is committed to improving our premier wireless voice and data network," said Roger Tang, president—Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "Our customers join us and stay with us because they are confident they'll receive reliable service." Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry. During the third quarter of 2006, only 1.24 percent of its customers disconnected their service, a figure well below the industry average.

These recent enhancements in Westmoreland County are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Pennsylvania and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $35 billion in the last seven years-$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $160 million of this investment was spent in Pennsylvania in 2006.
