HONOLULU, HI — Wireless users on the west end of Maui are now experiencing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities thanks to a new Verizon Wireless cell site. The benefits extend to Lahaina, Kahana and Napili, including the Kapalua Airport and Kahana Ridge Development.

"Verizon Wireless leads in customer loyalty* for a very good reason-customers know they can count on our network reliability," said Mark Yamauchi, director of Hawai'i sales for Verizon Wireless.

"We've invested more than $100 million in our wireless network in Hawai'i over the past five years to add new capabilities, stay ahead of the growth in demand for our products and services, and further enhance reliability."

The company's recent launch of its EV-DO network in the islands is one of the most recent examples of Verizon Wireless' commitment to provide new capabilities for residents and visitors to the state. Customers on Oahu, Maui, including west Maui, The Big Island, Lanai, and Kauai can now access the latest high-speed business and entertainment services-including BroadbandAccess Internet access, V CAST video and V CAST Music on their wireless phones, laptop computers and other wireless devices. They join more than 150 million people covered by Verizon Wireless' national EV-DO network.

The company has invested $30 billion in the last six years-$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.

The company's 'most reliable network' claim is based on network studies performed by the real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspire Verizon Wireless' national advertising. These engineers conduct more than 750,000 voice call attempts and 1.4 million data tests quarterly on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling over 225,000 miles quarterly in specially equipped, company-owned test vehicles.

* Loyalty claims based upon publicly-available churn (customer turnover) figures.
