NASHVILLE, TN — In an effort to provide Middle Tennessee residents with access to high-speed business and entertainment-based services on their wireless phones, laptops and other wireless devices, Verizon Wireless has expanded its Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) third generation (3G) wide-area network in the Nashville area to surrounding counties, cities and towns.

Customers in metropolitan Nashville have enjoyed the high-speed business and entertainment-based services since October 2006, and today, more Verizon Wireless customers in the middle Tennessee counties of Cheatham, Maury, Robertson and Wilson can experience the high-speed wireless service.

"More Tennesseans can download streaming video, television news clips and 1.5 million songs from Verizon Wireless' music library, all at high-speed and on the nations most reliable network.*" said Jerry Fountain, Carolinas/Tennessee region president for Verizon Wireless. "Business executives can now stay connected to the office and their files with remote access e-mail and wireless Internet services from across town or the country."

Verizon Wireless was the first national wireless provider to commercially launch a high-speed wireless broadband network in the United States, and the company's EV-DO network reaches more than 200 million Americans. Verizon Wireless currently offers EV-DO services in all five Tennessee metropolitan areas (Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis and Tri-Cities) as well as Tazewell, Union City and Dyersburg.

In 2006, Verizon Wireless invested $200 million to build, maintain and expand its high-quality network, and since 2003, the company has spent $430 million in the volunteer state to ensure network reliability and expanded coverage and capacity. On a national level, Verizon Wireless has spent $35 billion nationwide over the last seven years to ensure network reliability and expanded coverage and capacity.
