ROCHESTER, NY — Verizon Wireless has appointed Marquett Smith president of the company's Rochester-based Upstate New York region. He replaces Ken Dixon, who has been named president of the company's New England region.
As regional president, Smith will set the company's strategic direction and direct its wireless network expansion, customer service and sales efforts in Upstate New York. He will also oversee the company's distribution strategy, including the expansion of its company-owned stores, and the customer experience.
Smith has been with Verizon Wireless since 2002, serving in various sales and customer service management positions. For the past two years, Smith served as staff vice president of national customer service operations for the company.
"Marquett's exceptionally strong sales, operations and customer service background will greatly benefit our customers in Upstate New York," said Rick Conrad, Verizon Wireless' Northeast Area president.
As staff vice president of customer service operations, Smith oversaw the company's national customer service operations, including the development of comprehensive strategies and support policies, coordination of initiatives across the company, and oversight of data and technical support operations. Prior to that, Smith served as director of store sales and operations in the Washington/Baltimore/Virginia region, and was previously director of the company's customer service center in Laurel, MD.
Smith earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Radford University and completed the Executive Management Program at MIT Sloan School of Management.
