BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Verizon Wireless has baseball fans at Spring Training ballparks in Arizona and Florida covered with the nation's most reliable wireless network, during Spring Training and throughout the 2007 professional baseball season.

The Verizon Wireless voice and data network will go to bat for baseball fans traveling to watch their favorite boys of summer, as well as those catching all the action from home. Verizon Wireless' ongoing network enhancements enable customers to enjoy an even greater wireless experience when calling friends and family back home. Customers can also send TXT and Picture Messages, or download games and Ring Tones.

"We are committed to ensuring that our network steps up to the plate for our customers," said Dick Lynch, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless. "Our continued network investments, paired with our incomparable customer service, provide our customers with the ultimate wireless experience."

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $35 billion — on average $5 billion a year — since the company was formed seven years ago to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and add new capabilities. The investments included adding and updating cell sites and installing new technologies to improve call quality, increase coverage areas, and enable a variety of advanced services such as TXT and Picture Messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music, BroadbandAccess, and other applications.

Verizon Wireless also has expanded its EV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) wireless broadband network in markets across the country, including these Spring Training locations in Florida: Bradenton, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Lakeland, Melbourne, Tampa, Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Vero Beach. Now, Verizon Wireless customers in these Rev. A coverage areas can access e-mail and everyday corporate data at faster speeds, uploading files five to six times faster than before.
