ORANGEBURG, NY — Orange County resident David Samberg, public relations manager for Verizon Wireless, has received the company's President's Award for Excellence, which recognizes employees for exceptional teamwork, leadership and outstanding customer service.
Samberg, of Warwick, NY, earned the award for leading the company's external communications initiatives, including the award-winning HopeLine® community service program. Dedicated to domestic violence awareness and education, the HopeLine wireless phone recycling program has collected more than 3.5 million wireless phones, and given $2 million in cash grants and nearly $10 million in wireless phones and service to domestic violence organizations across the country since 1999.
Samberg was one of five Verizon Wireless employees to receive the President's Award for Excellence at the New York Metro region's annual kick-off meeting last month.
