Reduce, Reuse And Recycle This Earth Day-And Remember Your No-Longer-Used Wireless Phone

MILWAUKEE, WI — According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the United States recycles only 28% of its waste. Verizon Wireless makes it simple for people in Wisconsin to do their part to reduce, reuse and recycle-and protect the Earth's resources.

Wireless Phone Recycling
HopeLine^® makes it easy for Wisconsin residents to recycle on Earth Day-and every day of the year. HopeLine regularly holds phone collection drives at sporting events, concerts and store openings. Wireless customers can also drop off old wireless phones and accessories from any wireless service provider at any local Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, including:

• Bayshore Town Center — 5970 N. Port Washington Road, Glendale
• Mequon — 10902 N. Port Washington Road
• Franklin — 6531 S. 27th St.
• Greenfield — 4965 S. 76th St.
• Brookfield — 17500-B Bluemound Road
• Delafield — 2728 Hillside Drive
• West Bend — 940 W. Paradise Drive
• Racine — 6035 Durand Ave.

In the first quarter of 2007 alone, Verizon Wireless collected more than 2,500 no-longer used phones through its HopeLine program in Wisconsin.

Wireless phones that are collected through HopeLine at Verizon Wireless Communication Stores in Wisconsin and across the country are recycled or refurbished, with proceeds benefiting local victims of domestic violence and local non-profit advocacy agencies, such as Sojourner Truth House, Milwaukee Women's Center and Task Force on Family Violence. Since the HopeLine phone recycling efforts began in 2001, consumers across the U.S. have donated more than 3.5 million phones to HopeLine and more than 700,000 phones have been recycled.

"It's amazing how a small gesture like recycling an old phone can have a great effect. Through our HopeLine program, tons of electronics waste and batteries have been kept out of landfills," said T.J. Fox, Illinois/Wisconsin region president at Verizon Wireless. "Donating no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories to HopeLine is a quick and easy way to positively impact our environment."

Battery Recycling Programs
In addition to wireless phones, Verizon Wireless also collects spent rechargeable batteries for recycling. The Verizon Wireless Cell Phone Battery Recycling program is an easy way for customers to join with Verizon Wireless to help conserve the earth's natural resources and prevent spent batteries from entering landfills. Paperless Billing
Each month, nearly 20 percent of bills issued by Verizon Wireless are "paperless", meaning they are delivered online. Customers are still able to view itemized charges to their bills through My Account, which provides a single source for online customer service and account information and is ideal for environmentally conscious customers who prefer to access their account online. Customers can access My Account by visiting www.verizonwireless.com/myaccount, and entering an account number and password.
