MILWAUKEE, WI — Verizon Wireless, the only major carrier with a 30-day network test-drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier, has opened its first Communications Store in Glendale. The company has hired four local residents to fill newly created positions at the store.

The new 2,321-square-foot store is located in the Bayshore Town Center, at 5790 N. Port Washington Road, and is one of the first in the nation to showcase a new and highly interactive retail concept that is a departure from Verizon Wireless' traditional retail store design.

Customers can pick up and try more than 80 functioning wireless phones and experience on-demand access to downloadable songs and cutting-edge 3D games, short news, weather, sports and entertainment video clips. The store also features accessories such as Bluetooth headsets as well as laptops with wireless cards and modems and interactive television screens.

"North Shore residents now have much easier accessibility to the exceptional services that Verizon Wireless customers deserve and expect from the nation's most reliable network," said T.J. Fox, president—Wisconsin/Illinois Region, Verizon Wireless. "This new retail concept is the blueprint for an entirely new approach to customer service and delivers a shopping experience currently not offered by any other wireless provider."

Local residents who have been hired to fill the store's new positions are:

  • Madonna Bousquet of Greenfield — retail sales representative
  • Kevin Kitzman of Shorewood — retail sales representative
  • Lindsey Severson of Milwaukee — customer service representative
  • John Hale III of Wauwatosa — customer service representative

Verizon Wireless also has transferred six employees from other southeastern Wisconsin locations to staff the new Bayshore Town Center Communications Store. Assistant Manager Randolph Wilson previously worked at the downtown Milwaukee location, and Linsey Oliver, customer service representative, transferred from the Brookfield Communications Store. Retail sales representatives Souk Phommasack and Lynn Pollard transferred to the new store from the Verizon Wireless stores within Circuit City Southridge and Verizon Wireless' Brookfield Communications Store, respectively. In addition, Verizon Wireless promoted Aaron Midthun, from supervisor at the Brookfield location to assistant manager and Michael Johnson, who previously worked at the Delafield location, from assistant store manager to store manager.

Verizon Wireless' Bayshore Town Center Communications Store is open Monday though Thursday from 9 a.m.—8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m.—10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m.—6 p.m. The store's phone number is 414-967-5622.
