NEWARK, DE — Verizon Wireless has promoted Ramsey Moorman to manager of its retail location in Newark. Moorman will be responsible for customer service, retail sales, inventory, merchandising and employee training for the store in Center Pointe Plaza, 1209 New Churchmans Road.

He will also oversee the location's HopeLine® wireless phone collection program. Through HopeLine, Verizon Wireless collects no-longer-used wireless phones, regardless of make, model or carrier, to be refurbished or recycled in an environmentally friendly-way. Proceeds are donated to domestic violence prevention advocacy groups or used to purchase wireless phones with free airtime for use by survivors. Phone donations are accepted during store business hours, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. — 9 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. — 7 p.m.

In just four years with Verizon Wireless, Moorman has served in several positions of increasing responsibility, working his way up from a store greeter at the company's Wilmington, Del., Communications Store to his current position as manager of the Center Pointe Plaza retail location.

"Ramsey's outstanding work ethic, knowledge of our business and strong focus on providing a great customer experience have been key to his rapid career advancement in our company. I'm looking forward to the leadership skills he'll now bring to our new Center Pointe Plaza store," said Eddie Rodriquez, a district manager for Verizon Wireless' Philadelphia Tri-State region.

Moorman earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Delaware. He resides in Bear, Del.

Strong demand for Verizon Wireless products and services continued during the first quarter of 2007 as the company reported 1.7 million new customer additions. The company has added 9 million new customers in the past 15 months. Verizon Wireless also sustained its best-in-industry customer loyalty — posting a customer turnover rate of 1.1% in the first quarter, well below the rate reported by the other major wireless carriers.
