BASKING RIDGE, NJ — For the fifth consecutive year, Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the most reliable voice and data network, has been recognized as one of the top workplaces for Information Technology (IT) professionals by IDG's Computerworld and is the only wireless service provider to make the list. This honor is part of the IT publication's 14th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 18 issue of Computerworld. This year, Verizon Wireless placed 14th on the list, up from 18th in 2006.

Verizon Wireless' Information Technology Department was selected based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of current IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.

"The recipients of this year's Best Places to Work stand out because they are united by a common theme – they understand the importance of IT, and recognize the value these IT professionals bring to the workplace on a daily basis," said Don Tennant, editor in chief, Computerworld. "Once again, we found that IT professionals are looking for rewarding and challenging projects, access to leading-edge technologies, career growth and development and a comfortable work/life balance. Our Best Places companies not only offer these benefits, but do so in a manner that goes well above industry norms."

"We're pleased that Verizon Wireless has once again been recognized by Computerworld as one of the Best Places to Work in IT," said Ajay Waghray, CIO of Verizon Wireless. "The secret behind our success as leader in the wireless industry is our people. Our competitive advantage is our ability to attract, retain and promote the best IT talent and provide them with the tools they need to help us offer customers the best wireless experience."

Since 1994, Computerworld's "Best Places to Work" feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals compiled by IDG's Computerworld. To view the complete list of the 2007 Best Places to Work in IT, please visit www.computerworld.com/2007bestplaces.
