TULSA, OK — Verizon Wireless announced today that it has invested an additional $15 million to enhance services and coverage in Tulsa and northeastern Oklahoma. The company has currently invested more than $41 million in Oklahoma and the coverage area will continue to grow.

Currently the network services in and around Tulsa, Grand Lake, Keystone Lake, Okmulgee, Muskogee and Kellyville with its high-speed Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) network.

The Rev. A network allows Verizon Wireless customers to download files at speeds as much as ten times faster than customers of other wireless service providers that use different broadly deployed network technologies.

"By continuing to expand our coverage in Oklahoma, this ensures our customers the highest quality of service," said Lee Maschmann, executive director — Network for Verizon Wireless. "We have heavily invested in the state to provide the most reliable network that allows our customers to take advantage of the latest advances in wireless technology like music, video and much more."

The Rev. A wireless broadband network provides customers with services such as V CAST — which allows customers to stream video clips, play cutting-edge 3D games and download full-song tracks over-the-air directly to their phones, and VZ NavigatorSM — a location-based service offering maps and audible driving directions. The Rev. A network also allows customers to access the company's high-speed wireless network and experience download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. This provides customers access to their e-mail and calendars, the Internet and other information anytime, anywhere via a high-speed secure connection.

The company's "most reliable network" reputation is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country. These engineers make more than three million call tests annually on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling over one million miles annually in specially equipped company-owned test vehicles.
