Verizon Wireless Placed In Leaders Quadrant In Leading Industry Analyst Firm's Magic Quadrant For 2007 U.S. Wireless Service

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, announced today that Gartner, Inc. positioned the company in the Leaders Quadrant in the analyst firm's, "Magic Quadrant for U.S. Wireless Service Providers, 2007"* report.

According to Gartner, to be placed in the Leaders Quadrant, a company must "impact competitors by the choices they make in technology and handset offerings, their focus on the enterprise segment, and their capability to differentiate and be first to market with unique products. The launch of a new handset or technology, recognizing the need for coverage in a specific area or partnering with new application providers must all be done with an enterprise focus."

Suppliers of wireless and mobile enterprise networking solutions in the U.S. were measured against a number of criteria for inclusion in the Magic Quadrant including "cellular voice, low- and high-speed data services, and remote access services. Large U.S. cellular service providers that own licenses, or have partnered to sell regional or national enterprise wireless voice and data services, in Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets were also included in the study."

Gartner also examined Verizon Wireless' market understanding and business model, product, sales and marketing strategies, technology vision, innovation and geographic reach to determine the company's completeness of vision. Additionally, Gartner analyzed each company's ability to execute, overall viability, market responsiveness and track record. Operations and the customer experience were all taken into consideration, in addition to pricing and products and services offerings.
