BOISE, ID — Verizon Wireless customers in more Idaho locations can now access e-mail, everyday corporate data, the Internet and more at faster speeds, check out video on their phones, download music right over-the-air and play 3D games as Verizon Wireless expands its wireless high-speed broadband network in the surrounding areas of Boise-Nampa, Idaho Falls and Twin Falls. The company's wireless broadband network allows customers to access BroadbandAccess on their laptops, e-mail on their PDAs and V CAST Video and Music on their wireless phones.
The wireless broadband network coverage area in the state now extends to:
- Boise-Nampa area, including the towns of Donnelly, Mountain Home and Weiser
- Idaho Falls area, including the towns of Victor and Blackfoot
- Twin Falls area, including the towns of Gooding and Hagerman
The company's flagship business data service, BroadbandAccess, provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps, which means customers with Rev. A-compatible devices can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment the equivalent of a small PowerPoint® presentation or a large PDF file in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds.
Verizon Wireless offers several BroadbandAccess devices for the company's wireless broadband network, including the AirCard 595U and USB720 wireless modems, the V740 ExpressCard, AirCard 595 and PC5750 PC Cards from Verizon Wireless. All of the devices are fully compatible with the company's wireless broadband network and its NationalAccess network (based on CDMA 1xRTT technology), giving customers the ability to remain connected if they travel outside of the wireless broadband coverage area.
