WALNUT CREEK, CA — Verizon Wireless and the Golden State Warriors are teaming up to help curb domestic violence. Fans attending the Warriors first home game of the season on October 30 are invited to donate used wireless phones and accessories to benefit victims of domestic violence through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine® program. HopeLine drop boxes will be at the Verizon Wireless table located in the plaza near the box office from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program, used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any service provider are recycled, or refurbished and sold. Verizon Wireless uses the proceeds to award grants and to donate wireless phones with prepaid airtime to local shelters and non-profit organizations to aid survivors of domestic violence. This year, Verizon Wireless has awarded more than $400,000 in grants, and donated nearly 1,400 phones and more than four million minutes of use to domestic violence agencies throughout California.

"Verizon Wireless is pleased to once again partner with the Golden State Warriors to have HopeLine made part of the game day activities," said Rich Garwood, regional president for Verizon Wireless. "We encourage Warriors fans to donate their no longer needed wireless phones and accessories to help us provide a HopeLine to victims of domestic violence, an epidemic that affects one in three American women during their lifetime."

Since October of 2001 when Verizon Wireless launched its national recycling program, HopeLine has collected more than four million phones nationwide. The program has disposed of nearly one million phones in an environmentally sound way, and refurbished the remaining for resale and reuse.

Wireless phones and equipment can be donated to the HopeLine program year-round at any Verizon Wireless Communications Store across the country. For more information, visit www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline.
