MEMPHIS, TN — Gospel music fans can now download music and videos of their favorite Memphis-area choirs that competed in the How Sweet the Sound contest, including New Direction Christian Church, Apostolic Deliverance Temple and Miracle Temple Sanctuary directly to their Verizon Wireless cell phones.

Verizon Wireless V CAST Video is a high quality video content delivery service featuring full-motion video clips of the latest news, sports scores and weather, and for the first time will feature video clips of performances from the Memphis-area church choirs.

To access V CAST video on your V CAST phone, select the Get It Now^® menu and then the Picture Video (or Get Picture & Video ) category. Select V CAST on Demand (or V CAST Video) to launch the content catalog. To download videos of How Sweet the Sound winning songs, simply launch V Cast and go to the "How Sweet The Sound" folder under the "Showcase" category.

How Sweet the Sound, which took place at the FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis on October 6, 2007, was a three-stage musical contest held exclusively in the Memphis area to celebrate the genre of gospel and church choir music. Verizon Wireless encouraged all types of chorale groups to participate in one of the three categories, which were based on size (small included 1-500 congregation members; medium was 501-1,500 members; and large was 1,501 or more congregation members).

New Direction Christian Church of Memphis earned the Best Large Congregation and Overall Grand Prize Winner prizes, including a $10,500 cash prize for their church. Apostolic Deliverance Temple of Memphis won the small congregation category and Miracle Temple Sanctuary also of Memphis, won the medium congregation category. Both choirs earned $5,000 in prize money for their church. How Sweet the Sound also offered a TXT2vote category, giving Memphis citizens the opportunity to send a text message with the name of their favorite choir. The Memphis Favorite award was presented to Miracle Temple Sanctuary based on the number of votes received from the community.
