Verizon Wireless Named Official Wireless Provider Of Appalachian State University Mountaineer Athletics In North Carolina

BOONE, NC — Verizon Wireless and Appalachian State University today announce a two-year sponsorship agreement designating Verizon Wireless as the official wireless provider of the Mountaineer athletics program. The multi-year agreement says Verizon Wireless will provide Mountaineer athletics with all of their wireless needs to enable the coaches and teams to stay connected as they travel to events throughout the country.

"This is an exciting time in the history of the Mountaineer's athletic program," said Charlie Cobb, athletics director for Appalachian State University. "At a time when our sports teams are consistently placing us in the running for championships, it is only fitting we team up with the nation's leading wireless service provider. Through our partnership with Verizon Wireless, we expect to enhance our fans' experience with the latest technological advancements and most complete service possible. The agreement is with the Appalachian ISP Sports Network, the official media rights holder of Appalachian State University Athletics, and grants Verizon Wireless marketing and promotional rights through the 2008 — 2010 Mountaineer's athletics seasons. Whether it's checking out the latest score of the third-consecutive National Champion Mountaineer football team or finding out the results of any Mountaineer event online, Verizon Wireless products and services will be at the heart of the Mountaineer's successful athletics program. Each season, fans will have the chance to be recognized as the winning Verizon Wireless VIP Fan at four home football games, allowing winners field passes and meet and greet opportunities with the players and coaches.
