Wireless Phone Users In LaPorte County, Indiana Now Experience Even Clearer Reception And Fewer Dropped Calls

Verizon Wireless Activates New Cell Sites in Union Mills and Kingsford Heights

WESTVILLE, IN — Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in LaPorte County that expand network coverage, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; download games and ringtones; and browse the mobile Internet, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new cell sites improve Verizon Wireless' voice and data network coverage in the following areas:

In Westville

  • Along U.S. Route 6 in Southern LaPorte County
  • Along U.S. Route 421 between Westville and Wanatah

In Union Mills and Wellsboro

  • Along State Road 39 approximately two miles north and two miles south of U.S. Route 6

In Kingsford Heights

  • Along U.S. Route 35 between U.S. Route 30 and U.S. Route 6

These new cell sites are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed-$5.5 billion on average every year-to increase coverage and capacity and to offer customers the most reliable service available in the nation. Nearly $870 million of this investment has been spent in Indiana since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $136 million in Indiana network improvements.
