PHOENIX, AZ — The Phoenix Suns, together with Verizon Wireless, broke new ground in the use of wireless technology by sending a mobile video message to fans this week.

On June 21, 2008, the Phoenix Suns sent a special message exclusively to Arizona Verizon Wireless customers who subscribe to MySuns Mobile, the Suns news source via your mobile phone. The moving message evokes excitement for the 2008-09 season and features the introduction of new Head Coach Terry Porter.

The message was sent using Multi-Media Messaging Service (MMS) technology, which enables the club to incorporate sounds, images and video into messages sent to messaging-capable wireless devices.

"We are thrilled to team up with Verizon Wireless to be the first U.S. professional basketball team to offer our fans the added visual and audio elements via mobile communications," said Lynn Agnello, senior vice president of marketing partnerships, Phoenix Suns. "As an innovative organization, we strive to remain on the forefront of technology, while providing our fans with the most up-to-date news on the Suns in a convenient and entertaining manner."

"As the technology provider behind MySuns Mobile, we are pleased to offer this capability. This is a great example of how Verizon Wireless and the Suns have teamed up to bring the fan experience off the court and onto wireless phones," said Tony Heyman, regional president, Verizon Wireless.

MySuns Mobile provides fans with breaking news alerts on awards, injuries, trades, free-agent signings and more on their mobile phones or handheld wireless devices, plus special offers and promotional messages. Fans may sign-up for MySuns Mobile alerts online at Suns.com. There is no subscription fee to sign-up for Suns alerts, although standard message rates do apply.
