WALNUT CREEK, CA — Wireless calls, text and data from former SureWest Wireless customers are now riding on the nation’s most reliable wireless voice and data network from Verizon Wireless, less than four months after the company purchased the wireless assets of SureWest Communications.

Former SureWest Wireless customers are now part of Verizon Wireless’ nationwide IN Calling network, the nation's largest since Verizon Wireless is the most widely used brand of service in wireless. IN calling allows calls to and from Verizon Wireless customers without using any plan minutes.

Verizon Wireless customers also have access to 3G services like V CAST Music with Rhapsody, a subscription music service that also enables over-the-air music downloads; mobile-office capabilities available through BroadbandAccess; VZ Navigator(SM) turn-by-turn directions and Backup Assistant for storing contact information.

“We are pleased to welcome former SureWest Wireless customers to our network,” said Rich Garwood, regional president for Verizon Wireless. “We’re excited about delivering a great customer experience and the reliability our customers have come to expect.”

Verizon Wireless’ reputation as the nation’s most reliable wireless network is supported by industry-leading redundancy and maintenance measures. This has proven particularly valuable during natural disasters and other emergencies across the country. Standard Verizon Wireless network-reliability features include battery back-up power at all facilities as well as generators installed at all switching facilities and many cell site locations.
