FORT WAYNE, IN — Verizon Wireless has activated three new cell sites in northeast Indiana that expand network coverage, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make voice calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new cell sites improve Verizon Wireless’ voice and data network coverage in Monroeville, Tri Lakes, and the southeast portion of downtown Fort Wayne, as well as along the following major roads:

  • South Anthony Boulevard between Washington Boulevard and Oxford Street
  • Maumee Avenue between East Jefferson Boulevard and Lincoln Highway
  • New Haven Avenue between Wayne Trace and South Coliseum Boulevard
  • U.S. Route 30 in eastern Allen County
  • State Road 101 between Monroeville and Woodburn
  • State Road 9 in northern Whitley County
  • State Road 109 in northern Whitley County

“Our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us because we deliver on our commitment to provide the most reliable network,” said Greg Haller, president – Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan region, Verizon Wireless. “We’ll continue investing in our network here in Indiana as well as across the nation so that our customers can rely on their wireless phones everywhere they go.”

These new cell sites are part of Verizon Wireless’ continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed – $5.5 billion on average every year – to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $931 million of this investment has been spent in Indiana since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $136 million in Indiana network improvements.
