LAUREL, MD — Verizon Wireless today announced Mike Maiorana has been named president of the company’s Washington-Baltimore-Virginia region. He is responsible for sales, operations and customer service for the region that includes about 3,000 employees.

Maiorana succeeds Tami Erwin who last week was named president of the company’s West Area operation.

Previously, Maiorana was vice president of national government sales and operations, responsible for managing sales, customer service, negotiating customer agreements, and ensuring compliance in working with federal government accounts nationwide. Under his leadership, the company’s federal team was ranked first among 1,000 government contractors by the Ethisphere Institute as having the “Best Overall Government Contractor Ethics Program.”

Maiorana joined Verizon Wireless in 1990 as a sales representative and has held assignments of increasing responsibility as director of retail sales, director of sales operations and training, and regional director of corporate and government accounts.

He is a four-time winner of the company’s highest award for outstanding achievement.

Maiorana earned an MBA at Montclair State University and an undergraduate degree in Marketing at Rutgers University.
