NASHVILLE, TN — Security won’t be the only thing heightened for the presidential candidates town hall meeting next week in Music City, Verizon Wireless has primed and enhanced its 3G network so that the best possible experience continues on the nation’s most reliable wireless network before, during and after the event at Belmont University. Whether capturing the historic moment as a political strategist or spectator, customers won’t be worried about maintaining their data connection; downloading the latest song over-the-air; or missing a voice, text or picture message due to the deployment of additional capacity and coverage.

Verizon Wireless customers will also experience 3G Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) technology enabling customers to browse the Internet, download music, send e-mail and multimedia messages, as well as access other advanced wireless services more reliably and at even faster broadband speeds. Verizon Wireless’ most advanced high-speed wireless network allows customers to access the latest productivity and entertainment applications on their wireless phones, laptops and other wireless devices with average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.

“Wireless devices are not just for talking anymore; instant information concerning this historic town hall presidential debate is just a touch away,” said Jerry Fountain, president Carolinas/Tennessee region. “Combined with our 3G network, the units assist in providing the most advanced products and services allowing customers to capture history in the making.”

In 2007, Verizon Wireless invested over $126 million to enhance services and coverage to customers throughout the state. Nationwide, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion in its network since the company’s inception.
