HEMPSTEAD, NY — Security won't be the only thing heightened for the third and final presidential debate in Hempstead this Wednesday night (Oct. 15, 2008). Verizon Wireless' high-speed 3G network is primed and ready to provide thousands of media, political strategists, students and spectators the best possible experience on the nation's most reliable wireless network before, during and after the event at Hofstra University. The company is expecting an intense spike in voice, text, picture and video messaging as spectators capture the historic moments surrounding the debate.

Verizon Wireless customers also will experience 3G Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A) technology as they browse the Internet for the latest commentary, send e-mail and multimedia messages, and access other advanced wireless services. Verizon Wireless' high-speed broadband network allows customers to access the latest productivity and entertainment applications on their wireless phones, laptops and other wireless devices with average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.

For customers not lucky enough to witness the debate in person, Verizon Wireless offers two options for watching the event on-the-go. The debate can be viewed live beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET on V CAST Mobile TV, as well as on V CAST Video, for those who don't yet have V CAST Mobile TV service. The debate will also be replayed on V CAST Video for 48 hours after the debate itself.

"Verizon Wireless' V CAST Mobile TV and V CAST Video services have been hotspots for customers needing to access all of their Election '08 news throughout the campaign," said Patrick Devlin, the company's New York/New Jersey Metro region president. "As the excitement builds in these closing weeks of the campaign, we expect a large number of area customers to tune in to the Hofstra debate live on their V CAST-enabled phones. In addition, customers can access full election coverage on Nov. 4 through V CAST Video."

Customers can check out V CAST Video whenever they want for just $3.00 for 24-hour use or by signing up for the $15.00 V CAST VPak monthly subscription, which also includes access to Verizon Wireless' ESPN MVP, Get It Now® and Mobile Web services. Customers get unlimited basic video but application download fees may apply for 3D games and premium video. There are no airtime or megabyte charges to download, stream or watch V CAST content with any V CAST subscription.

Monthly access packages for V CAST Mobile TV begin at $13.00 per month. For more information on V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon Wireless visit www.verizonwireless.com/mobiletv.

In the first half of 2008, Verizon Wireless invested more than $111 million to enhance its wireless voice and data network throughout the New York/New Jersey Metro area. Nationwide, the company has invested more than $45 billion in its network since the company was formed in 2000.
