BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Hundreds of customers lined up outside Verizon Wireless Communications Stores before the sun came up today, some braving cold temperatures, to be the first to buy the new BlackBerry® Storm™, available exclusively in the U.S. from Verizon Wireless.

Long lines formed outside Communications Stores up and down the East Coast and the Midwest, including Toledo, Ohio; Washington, D.C.; New York; Miami; Tampa, Fla.; and across New England. One customer in Toledo camped out Thursday at 5:50 a.m. so he could be first to buy a Storm today. His story and picture, as well as downloadable photos and broadcast quality video, which will be updated throughout the day, can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/multimedia.

The world’s first “clickable” touch screen BlackBerry is available starting today – and selling quickly – at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate debit card and a new two-year customer agreement with a data plan or feature. For additional details and specifications about the BlackBerry Storm, please visit www.verizonwireless.com/storm.

(EDITOR’S NOTE: High-resolution and Web-quality still images of the first customers to purchase the BlackBerry Storm smartphone on its first day of sale, and images of the customer lines, will be available for use by the media. Images are being captured at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores across the country. The still images can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/multimedia.)
