BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Verizon Wireless has been selected as the world’s best wireless data service provider in the 2008 “Best in Business Travel” Awards, chosen by the readers of Business Traveler magazine. The survey, now in its twentieth year, gives Business Traveler readers the chance to voice their opinions on those companies who have made their business travels more enjoyable.

“The recognition from Business Traveler readers of our international data services goes beyond the past honors of best wireless provider in the world,” said Rob Miller, vice president – marketing for Verizon Wireless. “Borders for many businesses have come down, so international travel has become a normal part of business; Verizon Wireless strives to offer our business professionals reliable data services when they are in the U.S. and abroad to help them remain productive on their business trips.”

Verizon Wireless helps customers stay connected in more than 150 data destinations worldwide, including South American locations. Customers can select from a number of popular global devices, including the new BlackBerry® Storm™ smartphone and the Samsung Saga™ to use GlobalEmail from Verizon Wireless to access their corporate e-mail attachments as well as their personal or POP3 e-mail accounts. GlobalEmail offers one flat-rate data pricing and includes Web browsing, picture messaging and Visual Voice Mail in the U.S. and overseas; and plans are available for $69.99 monthly access for a stand-alone data plan and $64.99 monthly access when added to any voice plan.

Verizon Wireless customers planning to bring their laptops on their business trips abroad can use GlobalAccess to get their e-mail, corporate intranet applications and more. The high-speed global wireless wide-area network solution gives business travelers connectivity while traveling in parts of Africa, Asia, Australia, North and South America, and Europe. Customers can choose from a monthly GlobalAccess plan for $129.99 monthly access or pay-per-use with the purchase of a $59.99 monthly access Mobile Broadband service plan in the U.S.

Verizon Wireless also offers built-in GlobalAccess on select laptops to provide streamlined global mobile broadband access on both CDMA and GSM wireless networks. This embedded solution detects the network technology available where the customer is working and seamlessly transitions the configurations to provide high-speed access to the Internet, customer’s calendar, e-mail and other business-related information residing behind the corporate firewall.
