LEBANON, VA — Businesses, students and visitors are enjoying improved service in the town of Lebanon thanks to a new Verizon Wireless cell site that was recently added to the area. The site expands 3G wireless coverage in Lebanon, east on US 19 toward the town of Rosedale and improves service on state road 71.

The increase in network coverage and capacity means more calls, e-mails, text and picture messages, plus expanded wireless access to the Web.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $50 billion in its network since it was formed in 2000. The result is the nation's largest, most reliable 3G network* that powers services such as Mobile Broadband and E-mail. Verizon Wireless tests its network and those of its competitors in 90 specially equipped vehicles that drive 1,000,000 miles annually. The company determines if voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and if they stay connected.

Verizon Wireless' real-life test men and women drive on Interstate, U.S. and state highways, as well as major roads and streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

"This network enhancement reflects our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable service they expect from Verizon Wireless," said Jerry Fountain, president of Verizon Wireless' Carolinas/Tennessee region. "Dependable wireless service and high-quality customer service keeps our customers coming back year after year."

Verizon Wireless builds its network for reliability during emergencies. Verizon Wireless' cell sites in Virginia are prepared for a natural disaster or other emergency, which includes back-up battery power at every site, generators at switching facilities and many cell sites, a fleet of mobile generators and Cells on Wheels.

To meet customers' growing demand for wireless products and services in this growing community, Verizon Wireless products can be found at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 5 Clear Creek Road, Bristol, VA 24202, (276) 466-6800.
