The Green Bay Packers and major corporate partner Verizon Wireless today announced a five-year extension, through the 2013 season, of the relationship that features the company as the official wireless service provider for the Packers and Lambeau Field.

"Verizon Wireless has been an excellent partner of the Green Bay Packers and we look forward to continuing our relationship," said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. "We've had the pleasure of their excellent service, as well as the opportunity to collaborate on two great programs at Lambeau Field, the junior captain program and the HopeLine® program to support victims of domestic violence."

"We are thrilled to expand our agreement with the Green Bay Packers and extend our relationship with a team and landmark that are such inseparable parts of Green Bay and the state of Wisconsin," said T.J. Fox, president of Verizon Wireless' Wisconsin/Illinois Region. "The Packers and Verizon Wireless make a great team. The Packers are a premier organization with an extraordinary tradition of dedication, determination and excellence. Those are qualities we embrace as a company."

In addition to serving as the team's official wireless service provider, Verizon Wireless has been a Lambeau Field gate sponsor since the historic venue's redevelopment in 2003, with its name emblazoned over the stadium's northwest entrance. The extended agreement also calls for prominent signage throughout Lambeau Field, particularly in the Verizon Wireless area in the upper and lower concourses in the northeast section of Lambeau Field.

Other features of the partnership include the continued sponsorship of the Verizon Wireless Junior Captain Program. Children can register at special events throughout the year for the chance to be selected as captain and accompany the Packers' team captains for the coin toss at a Lambeau Field home game. A winner will be randomly selected for each game.

Verizon Wireless' exclusive HopeLine® program also will continue to be featured at one home game each season, this year at the Nov. 1 Packers-Vikings game, where fans will be encouraged to bring in their no-longer used wireless phones to donate to the program. The wireless handsets collected will be refurbished, recycled and/or sold with proceeds directly benefiting victims of domestic violence in Wisconsin.

Exclusive rights to the Packers' team marks also remain with Verizon Wireless, allowing the company to use the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field trademarks in both permanent and non-permanent point of sale advertising materials.
