ORANGEBURG, NY — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's largest wireless 3G broadband network, opened its newest "evolution" Communications Store in Nassau County last week.

The store, located at 369 Rockaway Turnpike, is the 37th Verizon Wireless store on Long Island and incorporates a new interactive retail design inviting consumers to experience wireless voice, data, music and video services in a sleek, full-service environment. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The store phone number is 516-239-2016. Features of the new store include:

  • Over 3,705 square-feet of retail, technical support and customer service space.
  • Interactive product and service demos available throughout the store.
  • Integrated systems and operational enhancements designed to streamline the sales process and increase customer satisfaction.
  • A check-in kiosk inviting customers to sign in on arrival and stay informed via monitors that track their place in the queue for service.
  • Roomy and easy to locate technical assistance and customer support area.

Staffed by knowledgeable wireless professionals, the new store offers consumers a broad range of services and equipment, including popular devices like the BlackBerry® Tour™ and service features including Verizon Wireless Friends & Family® which lets customers on eligible calling plans enjoy unlimited calling to up to 10 numbers on any network, anytime, anywhere in America without using plan minutes.

In addition, Friends & Family for Business and Verizon Wireless business solutions, like unlimited e-mail and Web browsing plans, now are more convenient for local business people.

Store Manager Mitch Scherker also is encouraging area residents to join the company in its efforts to help survivors of domestic violence by bringing no-longer-used wireless phones to the store for donation to the company's HopeLine® phone recycling program. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. HopeLine collects used cell phones to be recycled or sold and donates the proceeds in the form of cash grants and pre-paid wireless phones to advocacy groups for use by survivors.

Verizon Wireless was the first wireless carrier in the nation to collect and recycle old cell phones, and has done so on behalf of survivors of domestic violence since January 1999 — first in New Jersey and then across the U.S. Last year, the company introduced UHopeLine, expanding its recycling efforts to college campuses with the first permanent collection sites at Rutgers University's New Brunswick campus.

The new Lawrence Communications Store is one of more than 160 Verizon Wireless retail locations in metro New York and New Jersey. For a complete list of all Verizon Wireless stores, visit www.verizonwireless.com or call1-800-2-JOIN IN. Follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/VzW_NYMetro.
