BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Supporting American Red Cross efforts to aid those in need, Verizon Wireless encourages customers to contribute, via mobile phone, to the Haiti earthquake relief effort. All Verizon Wireless customers who pay a monthly bill, including those formerly with Alltel, may contribute.

Donating is easy. To make a $10 donation to the American Red Cross, text 90999 with the word “HAITI”. You will receive a text response asking you to confirm the $10 donation. 100 percent of your donation will go directly to the Red Cross efforts to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Verizon Wireless donates the cost of the back-and-forth text messages. You will not be charged for the text messages, and the $10 donation will appear on your regular monthly bill.
