SCHAUMBURG, IL — Verizon Wireless has activated four new cell sites in Will County that expand network coverage, enabling more customers in the area to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new cell sites, which are equipped with permanent backup generators for times of emergency, expands Verizon Wireless’ voice and data network in Will County in the following locations.

  • Custer Park: from Ballou Road in the north to W 4000N Road in the south, and from N 17000W Road in the west to N 8000W Road in the east;
  • Plainfield: from 135th Street in the north to Fraser Road in the south, and from Steiner Road in the west to State Highway 59 in the east.
  • Neuqua Valley: from 83rd Street in the north to 103rd Street in the south, and from 248th Avenue in the west to Plainfield Road in the east.
  • Crest Hill: from Theodore Street in the north to Glenwood Avenue in the south, and from Larkin Avenue to Route 53 in the east.

The new cell sites in Will County are part of Verizon Wireless’ continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Illinois and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed—$5.5 billion on average every year—to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. Since the company was formed in 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested $1.2 billion on improvements to its network in Illinois.
