MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Verizon Wireless announced today it has named Seamus Hyland as president of its Great Plains Region, a territory that encompasses Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska, effective March 15.

In his new role, Hyland will direct sales and operations, including 924 company-owned stores and authorized agent locations across the Great Plains Region. He succeeds Nancy Clark, who has been appointed to lead the new National Operations team.

“Seamus will continue to focus on our customers and provide them the best wireless experience as he leads the Great Plains Region,” said Marni Walden, Midwest Area president – Verizon Wireless. “He is already familiar with the region because he led our integration of the former Alltel markets to Verizon Wireless for the 15-state Midwest Area, including parts of Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota.”

Hyland has been with Verizon Wireless and its legacy companies for 25 years. He most recently served as the staff vice president – National Sales Operations at the company’s headquarters in Basking Ridge, N.J.

He led the Midwest Area Alltel Integration team from late 2008 through 2009. Prior to that, he served as director – Retail Sales, Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region where he was responsible for retail sales and customer service at more than 89 sales locations.

He began his career in accounting and finance and held positions of increasing responsibility including: manager – Sales Operations for northern Ohio; district manager of retail sales for North Akron, Ohio; director – Regional Sales, responsible for business and retail sales in northern Ohio; and regional director of sales for the Greater Cleveland area, including corporate, business and retail sales operations.

Hyland earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Cleveland State University in 1983. Hyland will be based in Plymouth, Minn.
