HURRICANE, WV — Hurricane High School has once again proven its fans cheer the loudest…with their fingers. Verizon Wireless today announced that the school is the winner of its TXT2Win contest and a $10,000 cash prize after more than 28,000 votes were cast by school supporters, helping Hurricane High surpass others for yet another victory. The school was also named the winner of Verizon Wireless’ TXT2Win competition last spring.

Through the Verizon Wireless TXT2WIN contest, students, parents, teachers and fans from select high schools were invited to send a text message to vote for their school. Hurricane High School competed against 26 other high schools from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to win. All of the participating schools received a $1,000 donation for competing in the contest.

“Verizon Wireless is committed to giving back to the communities where our employees live and work,” said Mark Frazier, president Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. “An investment in our schools is a worthwhile investment in our children and their success in the future. We congratulate Hurricane High on a great victory!”
